俗事繁多，時間無多，廢話少說.........


I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.

Book Review: How do you know it's true?

Recently I am reading this book on bus. Thanks to the Typhoon, I can finish this book quite fast, and this book only have 112 pages.

It is a book about scientific thinking. As it is for layman (or even pupils), the words and contents is very simple- if you have secondary school level science knowledge, it may be too easy for you. However, it is still worth reading-it reminds us what science really is. It is not just about spaceships, computer and your iphone. The core part is the mindset and the underlying philosophy- demand of concrete evidence and logical deduction, rather than fairy-tale thinking, which is the root of superstition. (Every HKUST Physics student should know Prof Leung's explanation on superstition ). And it also relates scientific thinking with political freedom. Science is not just something in laboratory and calculation, It is really a STYLE OF LIFE, which mark the progress of human beings.
